Building Your Total Solution: Gateway 1 Diploma Events

Whatever stage you are at in terms of preparing for September 2008, this event is an opportunity to finalise plans and consolidate your Diploma offer.

The aims of the day are:

  • To build a vision of the learner experience of the Diploma through the integration of the Diploma components
  • To engage in planning to consolidate Diploma plans.
  • To build a final action plan/checklist leading up to Sept 08 starts

The event is aimed at: Senior Managers; Diploma Leaders; Subject Leaders; Delivery Teachers from schools; FE and HE; training providers and employers delivering Diplomas this September.

The day will mainly consist of three workshop sessions which will include a choice from the following:

  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills: Delivery guidance
  • Projects: Successful supervision and outcomes
  • Diploma Operational Management
  • Functional Skills Update
  • Additional Specialist Learning: Shaping the Diploma experience

Please note these events are for Gateway 1 consortia only. This will be repeated for Gateway 2 Consortia in the new academic year. Edexcel will be following up these events with national and customised training as well as a set of regional networks.

Principal Learning events: Planning for Assessment

These free full-day events are designed for colleagues delivering the Diploma Principal Learning for the first five titles. Delegates will:


• examine the assessment requirements of the Principal Lines of Learning
• examine the key design features of the assessment
• explore opportunities to maximise attainment for students in both external and internal assessment
• plan for tracking attainment and implementing internal quality systems for both internal and external assessment.
