Functional skills are the new qualifications being developed as a response to the employability needs set out in the government’s 14-19 Education and Skills White Paper.
They are an essential part of Generic Learning in the Diploma, and cover English, Mathematics and ICT.
- The Foundation Level Diploma allows learners 120 GLH to achieve all the Functional Skills at Level 1.
- The Higher Level Diploma allows learners 80 GLH to achieve all the Functional Skills at Level 2.
- The Advanced Level Diploma allows learners, who have not already achieved Level 2 in all the Functional Skills, up to 80 GLH to achieve all the Functional Skills at Level 2.
