Principal Learning

The Principal Learning component of the Diploma is sector-related and determines the qualification title.

Through the Principal Learning component, learners will acquire an awareness of a particular sector in addition to employment-relevant knowledge, skills and understanding.

50% of the programme must be in a work-related or an applied learning context.

Foundation Level requires 240 GLH.  The level is equivalent to 4 GCSE grades D-G.

Higher Level requires 420 GLH.  The level is equivalent to 7 GCSE grades A*-C.

Principal Learning at Advanced Level requires 540 GLH.  The level is equivalent to 3.5 GCE grades A-E
