Hair and Beauty Studies

The Diploma in Hair and Beauty Studies teaches young people about the work, values, attributes and attitudes of those who work in the six industries that make up the Hair and Beauty sector. It will also raise awareness among learners of the range of rewarding career opportunities that exist within these industries.

Through completing the Principal Learning, learners will:

  • explore all six industries within the sector: hair; beauty; nails; spa; African-Caribbean hairdressing; barbering
  • investigate the importance of personal appearance
  • understand the value of team work and communication
  • become aware of the range of career opportunities available in the sector
  • realise the importance of safe working practices
  • gain an awareness of different management approaches
  • assess the important part the media play in promoting products.

New Item Structure of the Principal Learning
We are pleased to be able to share with you the working titles of the Phase 2 (2009) lines of learning. Please be advised that we are in the iterative process of working with QCA towards accreditation. At this stage, these unit titles have not been accredited.
